EAST LANSING, Mich. -Senior Harry Jadun has been named Big Ten Player of the Week after his outstanding performance over the weekend.
Jadun had a spectacular weekend for MSU, winning five out of six matches. Jadun and partner John Patrick Mullane topped Penn State's Aws Laaribi and Leonard Stakhovsky, the No. 75 doubles pair in the nation, 8-6.
Down a set and falling behind in the second, with his team on the brink of losing the match, Jadun was able to dig deep and come back from behind at No. 3 singles to clinch the 4-3 upset win over the No. 50 Nittany Lions.
His dramatic comeback victory came during a match that was dedicated to the memory of his late mother, Lenora, who passed away less than two weeks prior.
"It was a special win," head coach Gene Orlando said. "With the match dedicated to his mom, to see Harry Jadun clinch the match was pretty exciting. It was a great ending to a great match."
Jadun and Mullane teamed up once again for a ranked win against Ohio State on Sunday, this time knocking off the No. 3 doubles tandem, Kevin Metka and Ralf Steinbach, 8-3.
Against the University of Detroit Mercy, Jadun paired with Gijs Linders to defeat Jay Joshi and Ismail Kadyrov, 8-2. In singles, Jadun once again had the clincher with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rafael Orantes.
