
MSU Rallies Past No. 54 Hawkeyes, 4-3

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Michigan State (11-10, 2-2 Big Ten) men's tennis team grinded out a win on the road over No. 54 Iowa (10-5, 2-2) on Sunday, 4-3.
The Spartans were able to rally for a comeback win, after falling behind 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 in the match.
The Hawkeyes won the doubles point, a rarity for an MSU opponent, behind the pairs of Matt Hagan/Jake Jacoby and Josh Silverstein/Dominic Patrick, at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Michael Dube tied the match up at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles over Andres Estenssoro. Silverstein gave Iowa the lead back with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mac Roy at No. 4 singles.
John Patrick Mullane was able to even the score at 2-2 at his No. 5 singles spot, with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jacoby. Iowa once again regained the lead with a win at No. 3 singles as Lefteris Theodorou defeated Harry Jadun, 7-6 (13-11), 6-3.
Michigan State was able to claw back into the match and make the score 3-3 after Gijs Linders won at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, over No. 96 Matt Hagan.
Brett Forman then clinched the match for MSU from his No. 2 position with a 7-6 (8-2), 2-6, 6-4 win. Forman defeated Patrick to win the match.
The Spartans return to East Lansing to start an extended home stand on Friday at 12 p.m. against Northwestern.
