
No. 52 Penn State Defeats No. 50 Women's Tennis

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- No. 52 Penn State rallied back to defeat the No. 50 Spartans on Friday, 4-3. Michigan State is now 16-7 on the year and 5-5 in the Big Ten. "We came out strong in singles," said head coach Simone Jardim.
"We won the first four sets, but unfortunately we couldn't close it out. It was a hard fought match by both teams but they came out on top in the end."
The Nittany Lions got on the board first Friday taking the doubles point. Penn State won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, 8-4.
Sophomore Athena Trouillot tied up the match at No. 5 singles with a win over Devan McCluskey. Trouillot won, 6-3, 6-1. Trouillot improves to 20-15 in singles play and 9-8 at No. 5 singles.
Penn State's Kim Surin earned a point for Penn State at No. 3 singles, defeating freshman Aslina Chua, 6-2, 6-1.
Junior Emily Meyers tied the match at two with a win over Jacqueline Zuhse at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Meyers improves to 20-13 and 10-7 at No. 6 singles.
At No. 2 singles, freshman Lexi Baylis continued her record-breaking season with a win over Victoria Kisialeva. Baylis won in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-4. She is now 30-7 on the year and 13-4 at No. 2 singles.
Penn State won the match with victories at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
The Spartans finish the regular season on Sunday as they travel to Ohio State to face the No. 17 Buckeyes. The action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. from Columbus, Ohio.
