Michigan State heads to Clemson, South Carolina for a weekend on Lake Hartwell for the Clemson Invitational. The two-day, three-session, 21-team regatta begins Saturday morning and features 16 crews ranked or receiving votes in the CRCA National top-20 this week.

The Invitational will consist of three sessions - two Saturday and one Sunday. The morning sessions for Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8 a.m., while the afternoon session on Saturday will begin at 5:30 p.m. Racing will be streamed live at ClemsonTigers.com.

The Spartans line up with No. 19 Gonzaga, Duke, Cornell, Penn, Louisville, and Oklahoma in the Saturday morning session. Racing begins with the varsity eights, followed by the second varsity boats, fours, and then a hybrid of third and fourth varsity boats along with novice eights in the final heats. In those races, MSU's second novice entry will line up with Louisville's 4V, Tennessee, Washington State, and Clemson. Like MSU, Cornell and Louisville are receiving votes in this week's CRCA poll.

Saturday's afternoon session, which begins with those novice eights and third and fourth varsities and working up to end the day with varsity eight heats, pits MSU against Clemson, No. 12 Indiana, No. 17 Oregon State, No. 15 Radcliffe, Oklahoma and Duke. The Sunday racing features MSU against Clemson (RV), No. 16 UCLA, Louisville (RV), Cornell (RV), Tennessee, and No. 1 Ohio State.

"I thought that last week, we learned a lot about ourselves and what it takes for us to be competitive," said head coach Matt Weise. "I thought we got away from it early, but we really started to apply some of those things and saw how it impacted us throughout the race. I'm looking for us to continue to improve, and this will be a great field against which we can test ourselves. "
