Gabby Yurik Begins Action at NCAA South Bend Regional

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Michigan State junior women's golfer Gabby Yurik shot a 79 (+7) on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA South Bend Regional at the Warren Golf Course on the Notre Dame campus. She enters the second round tied for 70th place.
Yurik started her round with a birdie on the par 5 10th hole, but shot back-to-back double bogeys on 11 and 12. She closed her first nine holes at 7-over-par, but rallied with a strong finish, shooting even par over her final nine.
Yurik delivered back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes, then carded four straight pars on holes 3-6. She collected bogeys on seven and eight before ending with a par on the ninth.
Yurik will tee off at 8:45 a.m. on hole 10 in Friday's second round; live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
In addition to 18 teams, Yurik is one of six individuals competing in the South Bend Regional. For the first time, the NCAA Women's Golf Championships are divided into four regional sites and conclude with the finals May 22-27 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The previous setup was three regionals and 24 teams. Each regional site hosts 18 teams and six individuals, with the top six teams and top three individuals (not on advancing teams) in each region advancing to the finals. The regional tournament format is 54 holes over three days.
