Gabby Yurik Finishes Strong at NCAA South Bend Regional

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Michigan State junior women's golfer Gabby Yurik shot her best round at the NCAA South Bend Regional on the final day of competition with a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday at the Warren Golf Course on the Notre Dame campus. Yurik moved up 21 places in the final round to close her season in a tie for 56th place with a 14-over-par 230 (79-78-73).
For the third day in a row, Yurik started on hole No. 10, and for the second time during the tournament, she carded a birdie to begin her round. She also tallied a birdie on the par 4, 346-yard 13th hole and finished her first nine holes at even-par 36.
Yurik was just as consistent on holes 1-9, producing birdies on the second and seventh holes for the second straight day. She birdied the par 5, 462-yard second hole every round. Yurik finished with four birdies on Saturday and 10 for the tournament. A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Yurik finished the season with a team-best 75.33 scoring average.
In addition to 18 teams, Yurik was one of six individuals competing in the South Bend Regional. For the first time, the NCAA Women's Golf Championships are divided into four regional sites and conclude with the finals May 22-27 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The previous setup was three regionals and 24 teams. Each regional site hosts 18 teams and six individuals, with the top six teams and top three individuals (not on advancing teams) in each region advancing to the finals.
