Bridges Named to Naismith Trophy College Player of the Year Watch List

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State freshman Miles Bridges has been named to the Naismith Trophy Men's College Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. The Watch List includes 50 players from around the country, including 10 from the Big Ten.
Bridges has also been tabbed as a First Team Preseason All-American by The Sporting News in addition to being named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Watch List. In MSU's two exhibition games, Bridges averaged 26.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks.
The McDonald's All-American averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals as a senior at Huntington Prep and was named the 2016 All-USA Today Sports West Virginia Player of the Year.
The mid-season list of 30 will be announced on Feb. 9, 2017.
No. 12/9 Michigan State begins the year on Friday at 7 p.m. on ESPN vs. No. 10/11 Arizona in Honolulu, Hawaii, as part of the Armed Forces Classic.
