
Ferrell Picks Up LPGA Tour Status

EAST LANSING - Former Michigan State golfer Allyssa Ferrell has earned conditional LPGA Tour status for the upcoming season. Ferrell tied for 44th at the final stage of the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, Nov. 30 â€" Dec. 4 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Ferrell shot a pair of even-par 72s to begin the 90-hole, stroke play tournament and then posted a 75 in round three. Her fourth-round 1-under par 71, which included five birdies, was her best at LPGA International; she then carded a final round 73 to finish the tournament 3-over par (363) and tying for 44th and earning category 17 status.
Ferrell, a native of Edgerton, Wisconsin, is the sixth Spartan to earn LPGA status under MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, joining Stacy Snider, Emily (Bastel) Glasser, Allison (Fouch) Duncan, Sara Brown and Liz Nagel.
Ferrell was a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades three consecutive years. As a senior, she was voted the George Alderton Female Athlete of the Year, which is presented annually to the top MSU female student-athlete. She finished her Spartan career with the sixth-lowest scoring average (75.87) in program history.
Ferrell will be one of 31 rookies on the LPGA Tour next season.
