Michigan State freshman forward Deyonta Davis averaged 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 7.0 points on 63.6 percent shooting in a pair of Spartan victories to earn Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Monday. This is the second weekly honor of Davis' career, having also been honored on Nov. 30.
Davis opened the week by breaking the MSU freshman single-game block record with six rejections against the Wildcats. He also scored eight points and matched his season high with 11 rebounds. The six blocks also matched the second-best single-game effort in school history. Against Rutgers, Davis once again grabbed 11 rebounds and added six points and two blocks.
On the season, Davis is averaging 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds, ranking second in the Big Ten in field-goal percentage (.636) and third in blocks (2.0 bpg).
