Costello To Play In College All-Star Game

Michigan State senior forward Matt Costello will play in the 2016 Reese's Division I College All-Star Game on Friday, April 1 in Houston (4:30 p.m CT). The game will be played at NRG Stadium, site of the 2016 Final Four. It will be televised on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. ET.
Costello will play on the West squad, where his teammates will include Wichita State's Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet, Old Dominion's Trey Freeman, West Virginia's Jaysean Paige, Texas A&M's Danuel House and Jalen Jones, Stephen F. Austin's Thomas Walkup, Weber State's Joel Bolomboy and Evansville's Egidijus Mockevicius.
The East squad will include Georgetown's D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Louisville's Trey Lewis, Pittsburgh's James Robinson, Butler's Kellen Dunham, Northeastern's David Walker, Louisville's Damion Lee, Yale's Justin Sears, Virginia's Anthony Gill, George Mason's Shevon Thompson and Toledo's Nathan Boothe.
As a senior, Costello averaged 10.7 points and 8.2 rebounds. He became just the second Spartan under Tom Izzo to average a double-double in Big Ten play, totaling 12.5 points and a conference-best 10.1 rebounds per game. He finished his career as Michigan State's all-time leader in blocks.
The game will feature a pair of outstanding coaches with Doug Collins, a former Illinois State All-America player and NBA star, who coached four different NBA teams, coaching the East. Former Maryland All-America John Lucas, a 14-year veteran who also coached with three different NBA teams, will coach the West.
