EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State Indoor Track & Field team will be represented by redshirt junior Tim Ehrhardt at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, March 10-11. The Championships will be held at the Gillman Indoor Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
The last time out, Michigan State participated in the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships and despite solid performances from Spartans across the board, redshirt junior Tim Ehrhardt was the only Spartan to claim a first-place finish at the Big Ten Championships in the pole vault, a height that also resulted in a qualifying measurement for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
To earn the first-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, Ehrhardt jumped 5.49-meters, which ranked 11th on the NCAA Division I Indoor list. Ehrhardt's championship jump was a career-best. His previous best was 5.37-meters at the 2014-15 Big Ten Indoors Championships. Ehrhardt's previous season-high was at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, where he jumped 5.10-meters.
The men's pole vault is set to begin on Friday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. ET. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will also commence at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday, beginning with the women's one mile run. The last event on Friday will begin at 8:20 p.m. ET and will pick back up at 3 p.m. with the men's weight throw and stretch into the rest of the day.
