Spartans in Second After Two Rounds of the Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Michigan State men's golf team is in second place after two rounds of play at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Spartans are 1-under-par 575 (283-292), seven shots back of the host and tournament leader UNC Wilmington, and one shot ahead of Campbell.
The Spartans were 5-under-par 283 in round one on Sunday and then 4-over-par 292 in round two at the par-72, 6,967 yard Country Club of Landfall Nicklaus Course.
Senior Michael Sharp and freshman James Piot are tied for third place at 2-under-par 142. Sharp tied for the second-lowest first-round score as he carded a 3-under-par 69 with the help of five birdies on the front nine. He shot a 1-over-par 73 in round two.
Piot was steady all day, firing a pair of 1-under-par 71s in rounds one and two.
Sharp and Piot are just two shots back of the individual leader, Blake McShea of UNCW, who is 4-under-par 140.
Sophomores Kaleb Johnson and Andrew Walker are tied for 23rd at 4-over-par 148. Johnson carded an even-par 72 and a 4-over-par 76 in the second round of the day. Walker was 1-under-par 71 in round one and then 5-over-par 77 in round two.
Senior Charlie Green shaved six strokes off his first round score with an even-par 72 in round two. He is 6-over-par 150 and tied for 29th place.
The third and final round will get underway on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
