Sokol and Nguyen Honored as PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Month

Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Month. Throughout the 2018-19 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
The honorees for September are seniors Matt Sokol and Davina Nguyen.
Sokol is the football team's starting tight end, having appeared in 40 career games, including 12 starts. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice, he is pursuing a Master's degree in marketing research, after graduating last fall with a degree in economics. Sokol is a member of the team's Eagles leadership council, and was one of 10 Spartans to travel to Houston last fall to assist with the recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.
Nguyen, a marketing major with a sports business management minor, is entering her fourth season as a main contributor to the women's tennis team. She owns a career singles record of 45-28, including a 19-5 mark last season, and a 54-34 record in doubles action. In the classroom, she is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and helped her team earn ITA All-Academic Team honors. This summer, she interned with MSUFCU and the Lansing Lugnuts.
