EAST LANSING – The Michigan State University Athletics Department honored its past and present on Thursday night at the Wharton Center, kicking off Celebrate 2018 weekend with the ninth-annual MSU Hall of Fame and Varsity Letter Jacket Ceremony. Five new members were formally inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame, while nearly 200 current Spartan student-athletes received their varsity letter jackets from Athletics Director Bill Beekman and their respective coaches.
Dale Anderson (wrestling), Savatheda (Fynes) Coke (track & field), Rachel Miller (rowing), Jimmy Raye (football) and Bill Wehrwein (track & field) were presented with a commemorative plaque and Hall of Fame varsity jacket upon their induction into the Hall of Fame on Thursday evening.
The 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees will also be recognized at halftime of Saturday's football game vs. Central Michigan.
After each new hall of famer took the stage to address the capacity crowd, the focus turned to the current student-athletes as the first-time letterwinners were presented with their varsity jackets by Beekman and the coaching staffs.
