
Pero Advances in Day One of ITA Midwest Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's tennis sophomore Anthony Pero grabbed a win Thursday afternoon at the ITA Midwest Regional on the campus of Ohio State.
Pero, who received a first-round bye in qualifying, took to the court against Tamas Zador of DePaul. The sophomore rolled in the first set, 6-4, but was tested in the second, falling 6-2. Pero took control in the decisive third set, rolling to a 6-1 finish to claim the win. Pero advances to the third round of qualifying in hopes of advancing to Saturday's main draw. Pero will take on Gabriel Carvajal of Valparaiso at 8 a.m. at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
Pero will team up with junior John Carlin tomorrow in main draw doubles action, set to start at 12 p.m. The Spartan tandem will take on Harrison Brown and Kristofer Siimar of Michigan. Carlin will begin singles play on Saturday for MSU.
