No. 10 Spartans Ready for Final Fall Tournament

EAST LANSING – The 10th-ranked Michigan State women's golf team will cap its fall schedule this weekend with The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina. The 54-hole tournament, which will take place at the Country Club of Landfall, will run Friday – Sunday. Teams will tee off from the first and 10th tees between 8:30-10:30 on Friday and Saturday. Sunday's final round will begin with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
The Course
The 18th-annual Landfall Tradition will take place at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.
The Lineup
Valery Plata, Allyson Geer-Park, Yurika Tanida, Haylin Harris and Sidney Naro will make up the Spartan lineup this weekend. Paz Marfa Sans will be playing as an individual.
The Field
The Spartans will again be competing with some of the best programs in the nation. The 18-team field includes eight schools currently in the Golfstat top 30. The field includes: Alabama (13), Florida State (37), Furman (29), Illinois (19), Indiana (59), Maryland (42), Michigan (44), Michigan State (10), North Carolina (26), NC State (82), Oklahoma State (16), Penn State (86), Purdue (56), South Carolina (9), UCF (33), UNCW (107), Virginia (32) and Virginia Tech (20).

Spartans at the Landfall Tradition
This year will mark the Spartans' 10th consecutive appearance at the Landfall Tradition. Overall, it's MSU's 12th time playing in the tournament. The Spartans had one of their best finishes in the tournament in 2017, taking third in the rain-shortened, two-round event. MSU holds the tournament record for the lowest team round with a 13-under-par 275 in 2015, while Sarah Burnham's 6-under-par 66 is tied for the lowest individual round and the lowest round by any player on Sunday in the event.
A pair of Spartans in Sara Brown (2006) and Burnham (2015) have both claimed medalist honors at the Landfall.

The Last Time Out
Michigan State had one of its best regular-season tournament wins in recent memory, topping an elite field to win the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Oct. 13. MSU was 12-under-par 852 (286-277-289) to edge No. 16 Alabama by one shot. The Spartans took home two trophies as Valery Plata won her first career tournament at 11-under-par 205.
