MSU Hosts Midnight Madness

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's and women's basketball teams marked the official start of the 2019-20 season with the annual MSU Madness on Friday night.
Doors to the Breslin Center opened at 8:30 p.m. and fans lined up to get the new team posters. Players and coaches for both teams were available for autographs and pictures before MSU Madness started an hour later.
The night began with performances from the MSU Drumline, Spartan Dance and Cheerleading teams and the Spartan Marching Band.
The crowd was also treated to a performance by rapper Quinn XCII, a Detroit native and Michigan State alum.
The 2019-20 men's and women's basketball teams were announced with each player representing a different superhero, with Spartan Avengers the theme for the night.. Women's basketball head coach Suzy Merchant came out dressed as Black Widow, while men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo was the Incredible Hulk.
After Izzo and his team raised the team's 2019 Final Four banner, the night was capped off with scrimmages from both squads.
The Michigan State women's basketball team begins the 2019-20 campaign with its only exhibition on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. against Ferris State at the Breslin Center.
The regular season begins on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a home game against Eastern Michigan.
The men's basketball team opens the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Oct. 29, hosting Albion College in an exhibition game at the Breslin Center at 7 p.m. The regular season starts on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with the No. 1 Spartans playing No. 2 Kentucky in the State Farm Champions Classic on ESPN. The game will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
