
Bria Schrotenboer Named to Big Ten All-Freshman Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Freshman defender Bria Schrotenboer was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team on Thursday, Oct. 31 by the Big Ten Conference, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Schrotenboer, a native of Holland, Michigan, started in 16 games for the Spartans this season and played 1,411 minutes. She was one of two freshmen to earn starting positions for Michigan State this season.

Schrotenboer scored her first career goal on Oct. 19 against in-state rival Michigan.

The defender was selected to attend the U.S. U-20 National Team training camp from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1 in Chula Vista, California.

Prior to the start of the 2019 season, Schrotenboer was named to the Big Ten Women's Soccer Preseason honors List and was one of three freshmen on the list.

Midfielder Sadie Misiewicz was named Michigan State's Sportsmanship Award Honoree by the conference. The student-athletes chosen for the award are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.Â
