Morgan Beadlescomb Earns Bid to NCAA Championships

The junior was one of four individual qualifiers out of the Great Lakes Region
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State junior Morgan Beadlescomb has earned an individual spot at the NCAA Cross Country Championships next weekend, as announced Saturday by the NCAA.

Four qualifying individuals were selected from each region that were not on a qualifying team. Simon Bedard and Euan Makepeace of Butler and Akron's Marc Migliozzi joined Beadlescomb as the individual men's qualifiers out of the Great Lakes Region.

Beadlescomb has placed in the top-10 in every race that he's competed in this season, on his way to earning first-team All-Big Ten and All-Region honors.

Last time out, the Algonac, Michigan native placed sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Madison, Wisconsin. Beadlescomb turned in a career-best time of 30:16.2 in the men's 10k race to earn All-Region honors.

At the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 3, Beadlescomb placed third, clocking in at 24:01.8 in the men's 8k.

The junior has led the men's team all season, posting a career-best time in the 8k at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 18. Beadlescomb placed seventh overall, turning in a time of 23:47.3, against top competition.

Beadlescomb earned two individual titles to begin his junior campaign, breaking the tape at the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 13 and at the Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 27.

After a first-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 15, the women's cross country team automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships. This is the 19th-consecutive season that the Spartan women have advanced to the NCAA Championships.
