Field Hockey Adds Five for 2020

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State field hockey head coach Helen Knull announced the Spartans' 2020 signing class.
Michigan natives Ashley Harlock (Livonia, Mich./Livonia Churchill HS) and Eliza Kreske (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) will join Lulu Fulton (Auckland, New Zealand/ Diocesan School for Girls), Emma O'Neill (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin HS) and Ellie Wheatley (Louisville, Ky./ Dupont Manual HS) at Michigan State in the Fall of 2020.

"Lulu will be joining us from Auckland, New Zealand where she was a top goal scorer for her team the past two seasons. A dynamic attacker who I expect to bring speed and a knack for the goal along with a different culture she can infuse in our program. We are excited to welcome another Kiwi to our family."

Attends Livonia Churchill High School and played field hockey at Dexter High School in Dexter, Mich. where she was on the varsity field hockey team for two seasons … Was a member of the division I state field hockey Final Four team her junior year and claimed a field hockey championship her senior season with Dexter … Academic All-State selection for field hockey her senior season … Member of the varsity golf team her freshman and sophomore seasons and earned MVP honors in 2017 … Division I State Golf qualifier and top 30 finisher her sophomore season...  One of thirty students to be accepted into the math, science and computer accelerated program at Livonia Churchill ... Named class president her sophomore and junior year ... Named all-school student council president ... Was a member of the Honor Roll all four years ... Member of National Honor Society and president of French Honor Society ... Ranked top 10 for GPA in graduating class.

Played club for Pinnacle Field Hockey Club and was a member of the first team from Michigan to ever qualify for the National Club Championship in 2016 … Secured a first place finish in pool play at USA Field Hockey Festival in 2018 ... U16 National Futures Tournament Alternate Selection in 2016 and 2017 ... U19 National Futures Tournament Alternate Selection in 2018 … U19 National Futures Tournament Selection and third place finisher in 2019.

Daughter of David Harlock and Caroline Keen Gould ... Mother played golf at Michigan State University from 1987-90 … Father was a member of the ice hockey team at the University of Michigan from 1989-93 … Father won a silver medal for Canada in 1994 Winter Olympics and played 10 years of professional hockey in the AHL and NHL ... Has two younger sisters, Mary-Grace and Lila, who both play field hockey in high school.

"Ashley comes from a unique situation where her high school does not sponsor field hockey so she had to make a lot of sacrifices and adjustments to train at Dexter HS and also her club Pinnacle. She has gone the extra mile to improve her game & seek opportunities to get better. That work ethic is going to help drive her at the next level where she follows in her Mom's footsteps being a MSU athlete."
