Virginia Tech Knocks Off No. 3 Michigan State 71-66 in Maui

LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) Landers Nolley II hit a big 3-pointer in the final minute and scored 22 points, helping Virginia Tech hold off No. 3 Michigan State, 71-66, at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational on Monday inside the Lahaina Civic Center.
Sophomore Aaron Henry led the Spartans with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Junior Xavier Tillman grabbed a game and career-high 14 rebounds to go with nine points for the Spartans. Nolley led all scorers with 22 points for the Hokies, including a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left to give Virginia Tech a 68-64 lead.
MSU trailed by as many as 10 after a 3-pointer by Nolley with 4:39 left in the game before putting together a 10-2 run to cut the lead to one at 65-64 with 1:15 left. Nolley's late three and free-throws down the stretch gave the Hokies the 71-66 win.
Michigan State (3-2) trailed 32-28 at halftime after preseason All-American Cassius Winston was limited to eight minutes due to two fouls.
Taking advantage of Winston's foul trouble, Virginia Tech pressured the Spartans into numerous mistakes, scoring 12 points off 11 turnovers before halftime.
Winston was limited to 2-of-8 shooting and finished with seven points and two assists.
