John Lethemon Named Big Ten First Star of the Week for the Second Time

EAST LANSING – Michigan State senior goaltender John Lethemon has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It's the second time this season the senior goaltender has earned the top weekly conference honor.
Lethemon helped lead the Spartans to a sweep of Wisconsin last weekend at Munn. He posted his third shutout of the season in Friday's 3-0 win, turning away 41 shots, including 15 in the third period. The following night, the native of Northville made 33 stops as the Spartans rallied from a 3-1 third period deficit for a 5-4 overtime win.
For the weekend, Lethemon posed a .949 save percentage.
On the season, Lethemon ranks third in the country in save percentage at .941, while his 2.01 goals against average is second best in the Big Ten.
The No. 18 Spartans will play their last series before the Christmas break this weekend when they host No. 16/15 Arizona State on Saturday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (5 p.m.) at Munn.
