Bria Schrotenboer Called Up to U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team

The U-20 team will play in a pair of friendlies vs. Brazil and France this week at the 2019 Nike International Friendlies.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Freshman defender Bria Schrotenboer has been called up to the U.S. Under-20 National Team for a pair of friendlies against Brazil and France this week as part of the 2019 Nike International Friendlies, as announced by U.S. head coach Mark Carr on Dec. 4.
The 2019 International Friendlies will take place at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The U.S. U-20 team will compete on Wednesday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec. 13.
The 34-player roster will be split into two squads, 'Red' and 'Blue,' in friendlies against Brazil and France. USA-Red will take on France at 3:30 p.m. and USA-Blue will take on Brazil at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. On Friday, Dec. 13, USA-Red and Brazil will kick off at 3:30 p.m., followed by USA-Blue and France at 6:30 p.m.
Schrotenboer is one of six Big Ten players to be selected to the roster.
The matches serve as preparation for February's Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic.
"We are incredibly proud and excited that Bria has been called back in to the U20 National Team," MSU head coach Tom Saxton said. "She had a tremendous freshman year for Michigan State and her future at the very highest level remains bright."
Schrotenboer was named to the 2019 All-Big Ten Freshman team, following a successful freshman campaign in which she started in 16 games on the Spartan backline.
The Holland, Michigan, native played in the season-opening win against Utah Valley on Aug. 22, before missing three matches due to training camp with the USWNT U-20 team at the end of August.
Schrotenboer scored her first career goal on a header off a corner kick against No. 21 Michigan on Oct. 19.
