Cross Country Earns National All-Academic Honors

The women's team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 2018 season.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's cross country was named an All-Academic Team for the 2018 season as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Thursday.

To receive that status, each cross country program had to maintain a combined minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average among all of its students.

Four student-athletes on the women's team earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Sophomore Maggie Farrell (Dietetics), junior Annie Fuller (Kinesiology), senior Erin McDonald (Applied Engineering Sciences) and junior Jeralyn Poe (Environmental Geography) earned academic accolades, while junior Matthew Thomas (Finance) earned honors from the men's team.

In order to qualify for that distinction, students must maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regionals or as an All-American (top-40 finish) at the NCAA Championships.
