Mississippi State won the tournament with an 8-under-par 856 (280-279-297), six shots ahead of second-place Kansas.
James Piot, who had his best career finish earlier this week at the Colleton River Collegiate, led MSU at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate by finishing tied for sixth at 3-under-par 213 (70-73-70). He ended the tournament on Sunday the way he started it, with a 2-under-par 70.
"James has figured out how to play well even when he doesn't have his best stuff," MSU head coach Casey Lubahn said. "Even when he's not at his sharpest, he finds a way and that's what good players do."
Donnie Trosper tied for 10th place at 1-over-par 217 (70-80-67). Trosper's 5-under-par 67 on Sunday tied for the lowest round of the day. Trosper had four birdies and picked up an eagle on the par-5, 552-yard second hole.
"It was a character day for Donnie," Lubahn said. "He had a tough few hours yesterday in the second round and today played one of the nicer rounds of the year. It was a very good 67 today considering the conditions."
Troy Taylor II tied for 37th place at 9-over-par 225 (68-77-80). Andrew Walker shot a 4-over-par 76 on Sunday and finished 12-over-par 228 (78-74-76).
Kaleb Johnson was 24-over-par 240 (77-81-82).
Zach Rosendale played as an individual and was 11-over-par 227 (71-77-79) and tied for 44th place.
Sunday marked the end of four days of competition and two tournaments for the Spartans over their spring break trip that took them from South Carolina to Arizona.
"Overall it was a fun week - the guys will certainly have some experiences remember rest of lives," Lubahn said. "It's not the finish we wanted this weekend, but hopefully we played ourselves into contention for an NCAA bid and will have to play very well over our final few tournaments to get that bid."
MSU is back in March 23-24 at the Tar Heel Invitational.
