Michigan State Ousts Ohio State, Advances to B1G Semifinal

East Lansing, Mich. -Â Junior guard Cassius Winston (Detroit, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit) scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had five assists and freshman guard Foster Loyer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) scored a career high 14 points as top-seeded Michigan State beat Ohio State, 77-70, in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal game at the United Center on Friday afternoon.
The win was the 600th career victory for Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo.
Senior guard Matt McQuaid (Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville) added 12 points and four assists, while junior forward Nick Ward (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), playing for the first time in five games, had eight points and two rebounds and freshman forward Aaron Henry (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) added eight points and four rebounds.
