Spartans, Trosper Lead Colleton River Collegiate After Two Rounds

BLUFFTON, South Carolina – The Michigan State men's golf team leads the Colleton River Collegiate after two rounds at 13-under-par 563 (282-281). The Spartans shot a 6-under-par 282 in the opening round and then a 7-under-par 281 in round two on Monday at the Colleton River Club Dye Course.

Senior Donnie Trosper leads all players at 8-under-par 136 (69-67). He's one shot ahead of Iowa State's Lachlan Barker.
The Spartans lead second-place Iowa State by four strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Memphis (1-under-par 575) is in third place in the 14-team field.
Trosper fired a 3-under-par 69 to begin the day, which was the second-lowest score of the opening round. After going 1-over-par on the front nine, Trosper picked up four birdies on the back, including on holes 17 and 18.
Trosper shot his lowest round of the year in the afternoon with a 5-under-par 67, aided by a back nine that included two birdies and seven pars.
James Piot is tied for fourth place at 4-under-par 140. Piot was 2-over-par through 10 holes in round two, but then birdied four of the last eight holes to finish 2-under-par 70.
Piot was 1-under-par on the front nine to begin the day, made another birdie on the back and finished with seven straight pars to en route to his first 2-under-par 70 on Monday.
Kaleb Johnson is tied for 17th place at even-par 144. Johnson shot a 1-over-par 73 in the opening round and took two strokes off his second round score with a 1-under-par 71.
Andrew Walker was one of three Spartans under par in the opening round with a 2-under-par 70 that included six birdies. He shot a 3-over-par 75 in round two and is tied for 20th place at 1-over-par 145.
Troy Taylor II shot a 1-over-par 73 in round two after a 5-over-par 77 in round one. He's 6-over-par 150 and tied for 47th place.
Zach Rosendale is playing as an individual and shot an 11-over-par 155 (82-73).
The third and final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
