Michigan State Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award For Third-Straight Year

Spartans only Big Ten team on 48-team Division I list.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State baseball was recognized with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the third-straight year.
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with the award, which recognizes teams coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2018-19 academic year. In total, 296 college and high school programs received this year's award, including 95 high school programs and 201 programs from the NCAA Div. I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college levels.
"A huge thank you goes out to Melissa Tallant and everyone in the SASS office for all of their tireless efforts in everything they do for our program," MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. said.
The Spartans were the only Big Ten team on the Division I list for the second year in a row.
"I'm really proud of this team for all of their hard work and dedication in the classroom and on the field. This award is a testament to the coaching staff's overall commitment to student-athlete success," said Tallant, MSU's SASS Assistant Director.
Michigan State had a 3.075 cumulative GPA this year.
