Spartan Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team for Sixth-Straight Year

Five earn All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors for 2019 season.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State women's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the sixth-consecutive year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Friday. To be recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above. In addition, five players were placed on the ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2019 season.
Samantha Memije, Davina Nguyen, Maja Pietrowicz, Nicole Stephens and Caroline Szabo all made the Scholar-Athlete Team for the Spartans. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Memije made the ITA All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year, while freshmen Pietrowicz and Stephens both earned All-Academic honors during their first year.
This academic recognition for Memije and Szabo adds to multiple Big Ten academic awards for the 2019 season, including Academic All-Big Ten and Distinguished Scholar Award honors.
