2019-20 Â MSU Swimming & Diving Schedule
East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State swimming & diving head coach Matt Gianiodis has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season, which will feature the annual Alumni Meet, time-honored rivalries and invitationals such as the Meet of Champions.
"We are looking forward to next season. We had a good 18-19 and the plan is to build on that. We are excited to go to a few different places and we have as usual very good teams on our schedule," said Gianiodis.
The Spartans will open their season with the traditional Alumni Meet on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Opening up October, both teams with travel to Iowa City, Iowa where the men will compete against the Hawkeyes on Fri., Oct. 3 at 7 pm. The women will compete on Sat., Oct. 4 at 11 am against Iowa and Rutgers.
To finish out the month, the Spartans will travel to take on Miami of Ohio and Cincinnati on Sat., Oct. 12 before they host Pittsburgh on Fri., Oct. 18. The women will also face the Illini that weekend on Sat., Oct 19.
Diving into November, the Spartans will celebrate their senior night against UIC on Fri., Nov. 1 at 5 pm. Both teams will come back the next day, Sat., Nov 2, to battle the Wildcats of Northwestern before heading to Kenyon College on Sat., Nov. 9.
The teams will spend their next few weeks traveling to compete in numerous invitationals beginning with the Meet of Champions in Indianapolis, Ind. on Nov. 22-24. On Dec. 4-7, the squads will send select athletes to either compete in Atlanta, Ga. at the Winter Nationals or in Piscataway, N.J. at the Rutgers Invitational. Lastly, both teams will head down to Delray, Fla. on Dec. 15-23 for their winter break training trip.
The Spartans start the new semester on Fri., Jan 10 in West Lafayette, Ind. against Purdue at 4 pm. The following weekend, they will host their opponent from down the road, Oakland, on Sat., Jan. 18 at 2 pm.
The Spartans will face Cleveland State in their final home meet of the season on Friday, January 24 at 6 pm.
In their final two meets before the Big Ten Championships, the Spartans hit the road first to Big Ten rival Michigan on Fri., Jan 31 at 5 pm then head down to South Bend, Ind. to face Ball State and Notre Dame on Sat., Feb. 1 at 1 pm.
The Women's Big Ten Championships begin on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and will be hosted by Iowa University; a week later, the men begin competition at Indiana for the 2018 Men's Big Ten Championships.
The 2019 NCAA Diving Regionals will begin on Thursday, March 12 and the location is still to be determined.
The NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held over consecutive weeks for the women (March 18-21) in Athens, Ga. and for the men (March 25-28) in Indianapolis, Ind.
