Piot Named B1G Golfer of the Week

EAST LANSING – Michigan State junior James Piot has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Piot won his first career tournament last weekend, capturing the Island Resort Intercollegiate title.
Piot compiled the best 54-hole total of his career with a 9-under-par 207 (68-70-69), which topped the next closest finishers by three shots. Piot was tied for the lead after two rounds, but picked up five birdies, including three over the final four holes in the final round, to earn the title. For the tournament he recorded 48 of 54 holes at or below par.
It's the first weekly conference honor of Piot's career.
The Spartans are back in action this weekend at the Gopher Invitational, Sept. 8-9.
