Women's Swimming & Diving Breaks Records On Final Day Of B1Gs

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swimming and diving team concluded action at the Big Ten Championships, finishing in
12th place with a score of 203. Ohio State University finished first in the meet.
Kasey Venn finished with a time of 2:12.44 in the 200 breaststroke preliminary round, which set a new varsity team record and qualified her for the B Finals.  As the lone Spartan in Saturday evening's final session, she placed fifth (13th overall) with a time of 2:13.16.
Another Spartan also set a new varsity team record in the 200 backstroke prelims, where Kelley Heron clocked a time of 1:58.68 to finish in the top 30.
Four Spartans earned their way into the program's All-Time Top Ten.
Erin Szara and Emma Inch both became fifth all-time in their respective events. Szara clocked a time of 2:15.99 in the 200 breaststroke prelims, while Inch finished with a time of 16:51.23 in the 1650 freestyle prelims.
Marie Dickson finished with a time of 2:01.54 in the 200 butterfly preliminaries, which earned her the overall sixth time in the Spartans All-Time Top Ten.

In the 200 backstroke preliminaries, Claire Schenden became 10th all-time with a time of 2:02.06.

In the final event of the championships, the women's 400 freestyle relay team of Allie Heineman, Abbey Neveling, Taylor Contino and Truex finished in 13th place, clocking a time of 3:26.44.

The men's team will take their turn at the Big Ten Championships Feb. 26-29 in Bloomington, Ind.
