EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer head coach Damon Rensing announced the addition of Vedad Kovac (Marietta, Georgia/Lassiter High School) as part of the 2020 recruiting class.
"We are extremely excited to add Vedad to the MSU Soccer Family. My staff and I really enjoyed getting to know him as a player and more importantly a person. He is a good student, a humble person, and an a very good soccer player," Rensing said.
MSU will welcome Jacob Cromer (Northville, Michigan), Chase Inscho (Rochester, Michigan), Greyson Mercer (Heber City, Utah), Kadin Shaban (Hudsonville, Michigan) and Jack Zugay (Ann Arbor, Michigan) to the 2020 roster. The Spartans also added transfers Louis Sala, Luke Morrell and Brandon DeSmyter.
Vedad Kovac
Fr., Midfielder, 5-8, Marietta, Ga./Lassiter High School
Prior To MSU: Was a four-year letterwinner at Lassiter High School for head coach David Penny … Three-year captain … Earned all-region honors as both a sophomore and a junior and all-state honors as a junior … Scored 17 goals with 14 assists as a senior ... Played club for NASA for coach Todd Gispert, scoring 14 goals his final season … Earned valuable international experience with Bosnia's U19 National Team, playing in four friendlies and three Euro qualifiers in 2019 … Son of Fikret and Jasna Kovac ... Father played professional soccer in Croatia.
Coach Rensing on Cromer: "Vedad is a wide attacking player who is very skillful at taking players on or receiving the ball behind the defense. He can set up teammates or score himself. His ability to finish is something you cant teach as a coach. On top of excelling at Lassiter high for Coach Penny and in club at NASA for Todd Gispert, Vedad has been capped with the Bosnian U-19 national team. His experience with friendlies and Euro qualifiers in 2019 will provide extra confidence for him as he competes in the Big Ten this fall."
