
Foley, Lewis and Reilly Honored as PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2019-20 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

The honorees for July are Rayvon Foley (wrestling), Mary Lewis (women's tennis) and Madeline Reilly (women's swimming).

Foley, a redshirt junior from Ann Arbor, Mich., is an interdisciplinary studies in social sciences major. He redshirted last season, but was one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the country at 125 pounds during his first two seasons in Green & White. As a sophomore, Foley earned All-American honors placing seventh at the NCAA Championships, while in his first season, he became the first MSU true freshman to qualify for NCAAs in 40 years. He led the team in wins each of the two seasons. Foley has been active in the community with his teammates, taking part in events such as the Salvation Army toy drive and Chuck-A-Puck at home Spartan hockey games.

Lewis, who will be a senior this season, is from Bellflower, Calif., and is majoring in communications. As a junior, she became the first Spartan since 2015 to receive All-Big Ten accolades and just the 11th Spartan in program history. Lewis led the team with 16 victories and was also the recipient of the ITA Midwest Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award. In the community, Lewis has been involved with Teams for Toys and the Green Bandana Project, in addition to teaching physical education classes at local elementary schools and collecting for community food drives.

Reilly, a rising junior from Greenville, S.C., is majoring in kinesiology. She racked up the academic accolades last season, earning the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award, Academic All-Big Ten honoree, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics High Honor Roll and the Academic Excellence Harold & Raynor Shnider Office of the Provost Award. In the pool, Reilly has qualified for the Big Ten Championships each of her first two seasons, and also ranks eighth all-time at MSU in the 100 butterfly. A member of MSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has joined her fellow student-athletes in community activities such as Spartan Buddies, March is Reading Month, Be the Match, Safe Halloween, Holiday Caroling, visits to the Pediatric Cancer Center and local food drives.
