Brown and Ohonba Honored as PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the year, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

The honorees for August are Tristan Brown (gymnastics) and James Ohonba (football).

Brown, a senior from DeWitt, Mich., is a child development major. A two-time WCGA Scholar All-American and Academic All-Big Ten selection, she was a main contributor for the Spartans on the bars and floor during her first three seasons. Her career highs were 9.85 on both events. With her teammates, Brown has been active in the community, volunteering at the Special Olympics, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and various holiday caroling opportunities.

Ohonba, a redshirt sophomore from Stockbridge, Ga., is a criminal justice major. He has yet to make an appearance on the field for MSU, but has made in an impact in the community, volunteering at Lansing Promise, St. Anthony's Soup Kitchen, Feeding God's People and various summer camps.
