MSU Baseball In 2020 Summer Leagues Recap

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- A total of 21 Michigan State baseball players were in action in summer leagues across the country, with Spartans in action in leagues as close at Lansing, to as far away as Kansas and South Carolina, and several points in between.

Here is a short summary of the Spartans in summer leagues with some stats and information.

Lansing Lemonade League
Jesse Heikkinen - LHP - Locos - Helped the Locos to the Lemonade League title ... Started five games on the mound ... Rang up 16 strikeouts in 14.1 IP, yielding 10 walks.

Andrew Morrow - INF - Nuts - Played in 19 of the 20 games ... Posted a .288 average (17-for-44) with four doubles and two home runs, logging a .458 slugging percentage and a .425 on-base percentage ... Totaled 15 RBI and 13 runs, drawing 12 walks and swiping six stolen bases, while getting hit by a pitch twice.

Nick Powers - LHP - Locos - Helped the Locos to the Lemonade League title ... After a late addition to the roster, made three appearances on the mound, including one start ... Tallied six strikeouts with a 3.86 ERA in 7.0 IP, limiting opponents to just a .148 average while posting a 1.43 WHIP.

Adam Proctor - C - Locos - Helped the Locos to the Lemonade League title ... Played in five games, posting a .364 average (4-for-11) with one double, notching a .455 slugging percentage and a .563 on-base percentage ... Drew threw walks, to go with two runs and one RBI, adding two hit-by-pitches and one stolen base.

Gabe Sotres - C - Nuts - Played in 14 games, logging a .182 average (6-for-33) with one triple ... Recorded a .413 on-base percentage and a .242 slugging percentage ... Registered 13 walks, 12 runs scored and seven RBI ... Swiped six stolen bases.

Zaid Walker - OF - Nuts - Played in 19 games, logging a .306 average (19-for-62) with four doubles, one triple and one home run, amassing a .452 slugging percentage and a .362 on-base percentage ... Led the Lemonade League with 16 stolen bases, 28 total bases and 18 runs scored, while sharing the league-lead with 15 RBI and the four doubles ranked tied for second in the league ... Drew six walks.

Coastal Plain League
Zach Iverson - INF/P - Lexington County Blowfish - Played in 32 games, posting a .271 average (26-for-96) with two doubles, one triple and six home runs, logging a .500 slugging percentage and a .383 on-base percentage ... The six home runs ranked fourth in the Coastal Plain League, while the .500 slugging percentage ranked tied for seventh ... Notched 23 RBI, 24 runs and drew 18 walks, adding two stolen bases ... On the mound, made seven appearances in relief, posting a 1-1 record with one save ... Rang up 11 strikeouts against six walks in 9.0 IP ... Posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 12 putouts and 18 assists without an error, and was part of one double play.

Mitch Jebb - INF - I-75'ers - Batted .356 (16-for-45), logging two doubles and two triples ... Totalled seven RBI and seven runs scored ... Swiped three stolen bases.

Dillon Kark - INF - US 23's - Helped the US 23's to the LBCBL regular-season title ... Hit .229 (16-for-70) with two doubles ... Posted 11 RBI and nine runs scored, drawing 10 walks and stole five bases.

Brian Martin - OF/RHP - I-75'ers - At the plate, hit .205 (9-for-44) with one home run ... Notched six RBI and drew five walks ... On the mound, made four appearance with a 2.89 ERA in 9.2 IP ... Fired 13 strikeouts while only yielding four walks.

Reese Trahey - INF - US 23's - Helped the US 23's to the LBCBL regular-season title ... Posted a .266 average (17-for-64), with five doubles ... Registered 14 RBI and 13 walks, while swiping nine stolen bases.

Northwoods League - Michigan North/Traverse City Pod
