Men’s Basketball Hosts Grand Valley State in Exhibition Game on Thursday

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team will host Grand Valley State University on Thursday, Nov. 4 in the second of two exhibition games prior to the start of the 2021-22 regular season.
Masks are required indoors for all individuals. Michigan State University requires all campus visitors, faculty, staff and students to wear a mask while indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. and will air live on B1G+.
Michigan State returned to the Breslin Center in front of Spartans fans for the first time since March 2020 last Wednesday, as senior forward Gabe Brown (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville) scored 19 points while 13 different players notched at least one point in a 92-58 win over Ferris State.
Brown connected on 7-of-9 shots from the floor, including 3-of-4 from 3-point land, to lead the Spartans, while freshman guard Max Christie (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) added 17 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Redshirt senior Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point/Marquette) added nine points, six rebounds and four assists and junior guard Tyson Walker (Westbury, N.Y./Christ the King/Northeastern) added six points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals.
Michigan State connected on 52.4 percent of its field goals (33-of-63), had a 53-27 advantage in rebounds and handed out 27 assists (on 33 field goals). The Spartans out-scored Ferris State, 46-16, in the paint and scored 38 points on the fast break.
The Spartans return nine letterwinners from last year's team that finished 15-13 overall and 9-11 in the Big Ten and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 23rd-straight season, the second-longest active streak in Division I. MSU won five of its last seven regular season games, including three against teams ranked in the top-five of the Associated Press.
