EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State men's tennis team fell at Indiana, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington.
After taking the doubles point, the Hoosiers (2-2) continued their momentum with two-set wins in singles at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 to clinch the dual.
On the fourth court, Anthony Pero lost a second-set tiebreak, 7-3, to IU's Luka Vukovic, as Indiana extended its lead to 5-0.
Nick Williams and Luke Baylis responded to losses in the first set with victories in the second set at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively, but both fell in super tiebreakers in the third set to give the Hoosiers the 7-0 win.
"We need to be more aggressive and get out to a better start in singles play to give ourselves a chance to win," said MSU men's tennis head coach Gene Orlando. "Indiana is a good team and played well today, but we need to be more consistent."
The Spartans (2-4, 2-2 Big Ten) return to action on Sunday, March 7 to face Michigan in Ann Arbor at 3 p.m.
