Spartans Back in Action at Briar’s Creek Invitational

The Michigan State women's golf team is off to South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational, March 15-16 at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek. A familiar event on the schedule, the Spartans will be making their fifth appearance in the tournament, which they last won in 2019.
The three-round tournament will get underway on Monday with 36 holes of continuous play beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m.
The Field (Golfstat ranking)
The 18-team field includes: Boston College (146), Campbell (67), College of Charleston (83), East Carolina (58), Illinois (38), Indiana (168), Kansas (49), Maryland (14), Miami (Fla.) (18), Michigan (34), Michigan State (40), Minnesota (82), North Carolina (52), NC State (94), Ohio State (63), Old Dominion (44), Penn State (61) and UCF (25).
The Lineup
The Spartans will go with Yurika Tanida, Valery Plata, Paz Marfa Sans, Sydney Naro and Leila Raines. Valentina Rossi will play as an individual.
Briar's Creek Invitational History
The last time the tournament was played in 2019, the Spartans took home a pair of trophies. MSU turned in the fourth-lowest 54-hole team total in tournament history – 856 – to top Indiana by eight shots to win the event. Individually, Allyson Geer's 13-under-par 203 was the lowest tournament total in history, earning her medalist honors. Yurika Tanida placed 14th at 1-over-par 217.
The College of Charleston hosts the event, which is in its eighth year.

The par-72, private golf community and course designed by Rees Jones will play at 6,101 yards for the event.
