MSU Programs Ranked in the Top 10 in USTFCCA Standings

First-year head coach Lisa Breznau has both programs among the best.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - After the completion of both the NCAA Cross Country and NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Michigan State men's and women's programs are both in the top 10 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Program of the Year standings.
With just the outdoor season remaining, first-year head coach Lisa Breznau has gotten both teams in the top 10. The Spartan men are currently seventh with 50.5 points, while the MSU women are ninth with 46 points.
Michigan State is one of only four schools to be in the top 10 for both the men and women. BYU, Arkansas and N.C. State are also in the top 10. On the men's side, Arkansas is first with 11.5 points, while  the BYU women are on top with eight points.
The Spartan men finished 17th in the NCAA Cross Country Championship and 31st in the NCAA Indoor Championship. The MSU women were fourth in the cross country and 40th in indoor.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success,spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons. The standings are based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each NCAA Championship in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner.Â
