Michigan State Loses at Michigan

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's basketball team hung in early, but a late run in the first half and to start the second half by No.2 Michigan ended in a 69-50 loss for the Spartans on Thursday night at the Crisler Center.
Junior forward Aaron Henry (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) scored 14 points and had five rebounds to lead the Spartans.

- Michigan State trailed by 11 points, 39-28, at the half, but baskets from sophomore forward Julius Marble (Dallas, Texas/Dallas Jesuit) and Henry cut the lead to 39-32 in the opening minutes.
- A 3-pointer from Franz Wagner triggered a 10-2 run, capped by a dunk from Hunter Dickinson, as Michigan opened up a 49-32 lead with 15:23 to play, forcing the Spartans to call a timeout.
- The Spartans got no closer than 15 points and the Wolverines led by as many as 26 points.
- After a sluggish start, with Michigan taking an early 7-0 lead, the Spartans pulled to within two points, 18-16, on a jumper from redshirt junior forward Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point) with 7:41 to play in the half.
- The Spartans trailed by just four points, 30-26, when Henry hit a free throw but Michigan went on a 9-2 run over the final 2:45 of the half after the junior captain picked up his second foul as MSU trailed by 11, 39-28, at the break.
- Michigan State shot 38.4 percent from the floor (20-55), including 30.0 percent (9-of-30) in the second half.
- The Wolverines out-rebounded Michigan State, 34-28.
- Henry and graduate guard Joshua Langford (Huntsville, Ala./Madison Academy) combined to shoot 32.0 percent from the floor (8-of-25).
