Michigan State heads to Ohio for the third straight competition weekend, and readies to take part in the Big Ten Invitational.

East Fork State Park is the host venue for the event, which will welcome 16 schools for this regatta. Located east of Cincinnati, it has a history of hosting championship rowing and is a standout sprint rowing course.

In addition to the eight Big Ten squads, Duke, Virginia, Syracuse, Louisville and Notre Dame from the ACC, Alabama and Tennessee from the SEC, and Washington State from the Pac12 will line up this weekend. In each of three "pods" in each racing segment, two B1G schools and two invitees will line up to race.

This racing weekend will have the eyes of the rowing world, as 12 top-20 crews will all be in action on the same course.

Racing begins at 8:30 am on Saturday morning, with the second session following at 2:15 pm and the third at 8:30 am on Sunday.

MSU has two weekends of racing under its belt for head coach Kim Chavers, who finally had an opportunity last month to coach her team in a racing situation after being hired in September 2019. Chavers has a young squad, with two classes of incoming rowers experiencing their first collegiate racing over the last month. The focus has been internal, working on techniques, race plans, and improvement from practice-to-practice and race-to-race.
