Hoosier Collegiate Invitational Up Next for Men’s Golf

EAST LANSING – The Michigan State men's golf team travels to Indiana this weekend for the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational, which will take place Saturday and Sunday at Indiana University's Pfau Course. The teams are scheduled to play the first two rounds on Saturday beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, then play the final round on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. with tee times off the first and 10th holes.
THE LINEUP
Landon Ernst, Pierce Morrissey, Zach Rosendale, Devin Deogun and Parker Jamieson will be playing as individuals.
THE FIELD (Golfstat ranking)
Ball State (147), Cincinnati (97), Indiana (44), Eastern Michigan (146), Memphis (118), Michigan (165), Michigan State (80), Minnesota (155), Nebraska
THE COURSE
The par-71 Pfau Course, designed by Steve Smyers and Fuzzy Zoeller, will play at 7,432 yards this weekend. The course was built last year and opened in June 2020. It was named the third-best New Course in the Country by Golf Digest and the fourth-best College Campus Course in the Nation by GolfWeek.
THE TOURNAMENT
This will be the first-ever collegiate tournament played at The Pfau Course.

LUBAHN'S THOUGHTS
"Coming off our good play last week, we are ready to roll into another event at the new Pfau Course at Indiana. From what we hear, the golf course is very demanding and should put a premium on ball-striking. It is also going to test our mental and physical endurance over the course of 54 holes. This is week two in six weeks in a row, so we are going to hopefully keep carrying over the momentum of our good play and keep trusting each other."
THE SPARTANS
James Piot was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after his third-place finish at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate last weekend … Piot's 9-under-par 207 tied a career best … The Spartans have finished in the top three in three of our events so far this spring (third – B1G Match Play; fifth – Spartan Collegiate; third – Tar Heel Intercollegiate) … Andrew Walker had his best finish of the season last weekend at the Tar Heel, taking 10th with a 3-under-par 213 … Piot leads MSU with a 70.8 average, followed by Walker at 71.3.
