Plata Tabbed Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week

EAST LANSING – Michigan State junior Valery Plata was named the Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Plata is sharing the award with Michigan's Ashley Lau, who tied Plata for medalist honors at last weekend's Indiana Invitational.
The win at the IU Invitational was Plata's first of the season and second of her career with a 4-under-par 212. She opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 69, followed by a 1-over-par 73 and then a 2-under-par 70 in the final round.
Plata's first-place finish helped Michigan State take third in the 16-team event that featured every Big Ten team.
The weekly conference honor is Plata's second of the month and the third of her career.
MSU is off TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio, this weekend for the Big Ten Championships.
