Spartans Selected for NCAA Louisville Regional

EAST LANSING – The Michigan State women's golf team will take part in the NCAA Louisville Regional, it was announced Wednesday by the NCAA. The Spartans, who earned an automatic NCAA bid by virtue of capturing the conference title this past weekend, are the No. 8 seed in the Louisville Regional, which will take place May 10-12 at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.

Michigan State will be making its 21st NCAA Regional appearance since 1999.
"We're just thrilled. On the other side of the coin, we also expect this. We expect to go to the NCAA Tournament every year. So it's just exciting to see where we're going and what the competition will be like," said MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll.
Louisville is one of four regional sites, each of which contain 18 teams and six individuals. The other regions include Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Columbus, Ohio; and Stanford, California.
The top six teams and top-three individuals not from those qualifying teams from each of the four regionals will advance to the national championships to be played May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The 18 teams competing in the Louisville Regional, listed in order of seed, include: 1. South Carolina, 2. Florida State, 3. Auburn, 4. Texas, 5. Arkansas, 6. Texas Tech, 7. UCLA, 8. Michigan State, 9. University of Central Florida, 10. Tennessee, 11. North Florida, 12. Louisville, 13. University of Texas at San Antonio, 14. Mercer, 15. College of Charleston, 16. Xavier, 17. James Madison, 18. Fairleigh Dickinson.
Michigan State, which is currently ranked No. 32 nationally by Golfstat, has won three of the last four and six of the last 10 Big Ten Championships. MSU is one of seven teams from the conference this season to have garnered an NCAA Regional bid.
