EAST LANSING – For the second straight week, Michigan State senior James Piot has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday, April 8. Piot took first place in helping MSU to the team title last weekend at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational.
Piot won the event by five strokes, finishing 2-over-par 215 (72-70-73). His 1-under-par 70 in round two was one of just two rounds in the entire tournament that were under par. He recorded 45 of 54 holes at or below par on the weekend. The individual title was the first of the season for Piot and third of his career.
The weekly conference honor is the fourth of Piot's career.
Piot and the Spartans will return to action this weekend at the Boilermaker Invitational at Purdue on Saturday and Sunday.
