Spartan Student-Athletes Post Highest Cumulative GPA in Department History

EAST LANSING, Mich. - In a semester that saw all but one of Michigan State's teams compete, Spartan student-athletes turned in an excellent semester in the classroom, posting the highest cumulative GPA in athletic department history (3.3051).
The 3.3051 all-department cumulative GPA marks the first time ever above a 3.3, and the 21st consecutive semester over a 3.0. Spartan student-athletes posted an all-department semester GPA of 3.2967, the third highest semester GPA in department history and the 17th consecutive semester over a 3.0.
A record-tying 20 teams posted a 3.0 cumulative GPA, while 19 teams posted a 3.0 semester GPA. Seven programs posted their highest cumulative GPA in program history, including men's golf, gymnastics, volleyball, softball, rowing, women's track and field and football.
Individually, an all-time high 545 students finished spring 2021 with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. For the semester, 118 students earned a perfect 4.0 GPA among 506 students who earned a 3.0 or higher GPA for the term.
