Piot Shoots 1-Over-Par 72 in Opening Round of the Kingston Springs Regional

KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tennessee – James Piot shot a 1-over-par 72 on day one of the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional on Monday. Piot stands in a tie for 29^th place after the first of three rounds, which are being played at the par-71, 7,107-yard Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tennessee.

Piot made the turn at 1-over-par on Monday and was 3-over-par after 14 holes. But with birdies on three of the last four holes, including on the par-4, 459-yard 18^th, Piot got back to 1-over-par for the day.

Piot is aiming to be the individual player with the lowest score not on one of the five advancing teams from the Kingston Springs Regional to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships, which begin May 28 at Grayhawk Golf Club.

Reid Davenport of Vanderbilt leads the field individual after an opening-round 6-under-par 65. NC State and Kent State lead the team standings at 7-under-par 277.

The second round of the tournament will begin on Tuesday morning.
