East Lansing, Mich. -- Ten Michigan State rowers have earned a spot on the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Student-Athletes list, as announced on Wednesday, June 9.
Â
"To say that the last year has been a challenge is a massive understatement, but I am very proud of our athletes who never let the challenges get the best of them," said head coach Kim Chavers. "In addition to the 10 athletes who are receiving this honor from the CRCA, we had 52 members of our team earn Academic All-Big Ten honors. Their attention to their priorities and staying their course is absolutely to be commended."
To earn Scholar Student-Athlete honors, a rower must be in at least their second season of eligibility, rowed in an NCAA-eligible boat for at least 75% of the spring races, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.Â
Â
The Spartans to earn the honor this spring are Kendall Carlin (Macomb, Mich./Business), Sarah Flowney (Rochester Hills, Mich./Human Biology), Kiersten Korber (Macomb Twp, Mich./Diatetics), Olivia Megge (Harrison Twp, Mich./Landscape Architecture), Madison Mychalowych (Birmingham, Mich./Business), Bailey Pease (Rochester, Mich./Kinesiology), Emily Petrosky (Middleville, Mich./Kinesiology), Lucie Roy (Ann Arbor, Mich./Physiology) and Mackenzie Rugg (Cedar Springs, Mich./Kinesiology).
