Swimming & Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Academic Honors

East Lansing, Mich. --Â The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced its Scholar All-America team honors for spring 2021.For the Spring ranking, Both the men's and women's squads ranked 16th among their Division I peers, with the Michigan State women's team posting a 3.74 grade-point average and the men's team owning a team GPA of 3.58.Â

In the January 19th ranking, The Spartan women's team led the way across all three divisions with its 3.87 team GPA, and the men's squad ranked sixth among Division I teams with a 3.71. Spring selections were made on the basis of teams' spring grade point averages and represent 17,982 student-athletes. Â The Scholar All-America team includes 721 men's and women's teams from 424 institutions.

On the women's team, both Taylor Arnold and Amanda Ling were among the eight recipients of the President's Award at the Student-Athlete Support Services Academic Gala, given to the graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average. All eight achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Arnold is a special education and learning disabilities major that earned a Michigan State Honor's College State Scholarship. She's a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honoree in addition to garnering the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2021. Ling was a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 award this season and is a four-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. A 2020 CSCA All-America selection in one-meter and three-meter diving, Ling is also a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
